When the green flag flies on February 9, 2018 at Screven Motor Speedway, FASTRAK Companies International will be entering its 15th year in business. It all started because Stan Lester, FASTRAK founder, knew that the highest costs in late model racing were the engines and tires. With the idea that those costs could be controlled, the corporation was formed late in 2003 and held its first ever race, with five cars, on April 3, 2004 at Winder Barrow Speedway in Winder, GA. It was then that the idea by Lester came to fruition.

“All five cars piled up in turn one after the white flag,” said Lester, “The track owner asked me, having never directed a race in my life, “What are you going to do?”, I told the drivers that the first one back to the finish line was the winner. You have never seen such a crazy dash to the finish in your life. It was a humble beginning to say the least.”

During that 2004 season FASTRAK saw tremendous growth. The second event had 18 cars, the third had 22, and the final race of the inaugural season had 51 cars at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Pooler, GA.

The very next season saw the birth of the FASTRAK Mid-Ohio Valley Region. Sticking with the initial mission of controlling the two most expensive components in racing, engines and tires, FASTRAK now uses the Chevrolet Performance CT 400 (604) engine, an affordable engine that offers 450 horsepower. FASTRAK has worked side by side with Chevrolet Performance to ensure that the engine remains affordable and dependable. To address the costs associated with tires, FASTRAK worked with Hoosier Tire to develop the FT Crate Spec tires known as the FT 200 and FT 400. The FT tires are the cheapest and best performing crate spec tires currently on the market.

“We have stuck to our original mission statement of controlling the cost of the engines and tires, and the 604 and 602 crate engines have met and exceeded all expectations, along with the FT Crate Spec tires” said Lester.
In 2011 the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series was born with the Southeast Region. ULTIMATE itself has since expanded into three more regions, the Battle of the Bluegrass, Mid-Ohio Valley, and Northeast. In total, FASTRAK Companies International now has six regions of dirt late model tours along with its Weekly Sanctioning of tracks throughout the eastern part of the United States. All parts of the FASTRAK family of racing, have a common goal; help tracks make money and give back to the drivers. The following Tuesday after any FASTRAK or ULTIMATE race, the regional director contacts the track with once simple question, “Did you make money?”.

“Our goal is simple,” stated FASTRAK General Manager DJ Irvine, “help tracks make money with successful events, give back to the drivers, and make certain the fans make memories at the race track.”

Over the course of the past 14 years, FASTRAK Companies International has paid out over $4,300,000 in Championship point money to the drivers. The Company looks forward to continuing to reward drivers, while also keeping costs in check. “We’ve done a pretty good job, along with our partners in containing the cost of engines and tires,” stated Lester.
