HICKS WINS ROUND #1 OF EAST COAST RUMBLE AT BECKLEY, NANCE WINS 2018 TRIPLE CROWN

FASTRAK Companies International - By Wesley Outland

PROSPERITY, WV – The Labor Day weekend for the 4th consecutive year featured the East Coast Rumble, for the first time in four seasons the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance returned to the 3/8th mile for Round #1 of the series in addition it was also the finale for what started on Memorial Day weekend for the 14th Annual Triple Crown series and the race for the Howard Miller Grandfather Clock presented by NRV Furniture Inc. However showed it's ugly head yet again causing a 3 hour weather delay but the efforts by Beckley and FASTRAK we're successful in getting the entire show in. The race came down to #55 Benji Hicks and #4 Matthew Nance which we're battling for the Grandfather Clock settled it out in fine fashion in front of the crowd.

The race would see Benji Hicks jump out to the lead for the green and never look back driving the top side of the race surface nearly hitting the outside wall. Even after a mutli car accident that involved five top cars. Hicks was absolutely strong and no one could contend with him, Bland would be the man locally to try and pull and upset but sadly got collected with a lap car or #D52 Brad Basey causing severe damage ending his evening. Nance would also be collected in the melee but the call was determined Nance was a (secondary caution) and given the 2nd spot back. A late caution with #39 Henry Hornsby III stalling in turn four would cause one final shot for Nance to try and get to Hicks, but it just wasn't meant to be as the native from Mt. Airy, NC would claim his second FASTRAK (West Virginia) touring win to the FASTRAK Swift Springs feature winner taking the $2000 Triple Crown Finale and East Coast Rumble Round #1 event. Nance however would take the 2nd position of the race and prevail winning the Triple Crown and the recipient of the NEW Howard Miller Grandfather Clock by a mere 2 points when the checker fell. For Hicks it was two consecutive years being the Triple Crown runner up. #00 Carson Ferguson had a great comeback after being involved in the opening crash to finish 3rd, #12 Brandon Umberger would take 4th and rounding out the top 5 was #7A Corey Almond.
