Chevrolet Performance has been announced as the presenting sponsor for FASTRAK’s touring division for 2018. The series will formally be named The FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance. Chevrolet Performance has been a partner with FASTRAK since 2005 when the sanctioning body began to utilize the CT400 (604) engine.
“FASTRAK, as a pioneer in the southeast, spearheaded the effort of keeping racing affordable,” said Bill Martens, Special Programs Manager with Chevrolet Performance, “for that, GM is very grateful.”
The overall goal of the “crate” engine program is to maintain consistency of power output by refraining from making drastic changes to the CT400 (604) engine. FASTRAK’s goal has always been to make late model racing more affordable by controlling one of racing’s most costly components, the engine.
“We haven’t made any major changes to the architecture or components to maintain power levels,” said Martens, “We don’t want to make anyone’s engine obsolete by making those types of changes.”
Together, FASTRAK and Chevrolet Performance have built the class to what it is today. Through consistent tech and open communication, the two are pushing pro late model racing into the future.
“We are looking forward to maintaining our multi-year relationship with FASTRAK,” stated Martens, “They give drivers a great place to go race their Chevrolet Performance powered cars.”
Drivers competing in The FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance are chasing a $10,000 to win championship, that pays through the top 10 in points. FASTRAK recently announced a 23-race schedule that spans from February to November for the 2018 season.
