Carolina Clash Withdraws Sanctioning From Beckley Event

After discussion with the drivers associated with points in Carolina Clash, our series officials and owners, and Mr. Ed Horton of the Beckley Motorsports Park, we have decided to withdraw sanctioning from the event planned for this weekend at Beckley.

This decision was made on Tuesday afternoon, in an effort to give any of our point competitors an opportunity to make their own decisions about weekend plans in face of changing weather forecasts, especially those that are 7+ hours from home, without the threat of losing point eligibility should they make the decision not to attend this event.

Our concerns are primarily due to the distance to the facility coupled with a very uncertain and always changing weather forecast for the week, which included a Flash Flood Watch for the entire region until Friday afternoon.

Such an event could be difficult to reschedule this time of year and decisions about alternate formats being made only several days in advance could be very confusing to many. Furthermore, trying to come up with solutions to that potential threat is not easy and almost impossible to accommodate all.

I wish all of the best to everyone at Beckley and hope for success with the local competition and am very impressed with all of the great charitable work being done with those who are less fortunate in the Beckley area that many don't know about. I feel that Mr. Mooney, Mr. Horton and his staff are good people and will, in time, make the track something for Beckley fans to be very proud of. (Mark Huey)
