Emory Stays Hot With 311 Victory

(Pine Hall, NC) Robbie Emory continued his impressive streak of Top 5 finishes and took another important step towards his first series championship with a $3000 victory Saturday night at 311 Motor Speedway.

Emory topped the charts in Renegade Race Fuels Time Trials with a lap of 16.927 seconds. In Hoosier Racing Tire Heat Race #1, Emory grabbed the lead as Jay Sessoms would battle with former series champion Jonathan Edwards Jr. for the 2nd position. Emory would lead all 8 laps while Edwards Jr. would edge out Sessoms for the runner-up position on the final lap. In FK Rod Ends Heat Race #2, Steve Banal took the lead at the drop of the green. Shaun Harrell would slide high in Turn 3 and surrender the 2nd spot to Justin Williams. However, Harrell would quickly regain the position and follow Banal to the finish line ahead of Williams.

In The Direct Racing Industry Virtual Expo Main Event, Emory and Banal would lead the field to the opening green flag. Emory vaulted to the lead initially while Edwards and Banal battled just behind the race leader. Edwards was solid and held the spot before ultimately giving way to Banal on a restart. Derrick Ramey, who started from the 8th position, quickly began moving towards the Top 5. However, the hard charger of the race was Matthew Nance. After starting 13th, Nance worked his way towards the front of the field as several drivers contended for a solid finish. Though Emory would lead all 40 laps, Banal closed in on the leader as the two series veterans navigated lap traffic late in the event. Once the leaders got back in clean air, Emory rebuilt a sizable margin and paced the field the rest of the way to earn his 3rd career FUEL Racing Series victory. Banal, Edwards, Ramey and Williams rounded out the Top 5.

Up next for the FUEL Late Models will be a Saturday, October 6th trip to Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC for the 2nd Annual Tribal Nationals.
