RACE RECAP: GAFFNEY, SC--The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series started the 35th season of the series before a standing room only crowd at the Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC., for the 16th Annual March Madness and Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC., scored his fourth March Madness win and 51st overall series win for the two time series champion. Madden jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag from the outside ahead of Chris Ferguson was on the pole.  Madden was on cruise control much of the race until lapped traffic played a factor allowing Scott Bloomquist and chance to close in him midway during the race then late in the Ferguson was there trying to move in on Madden with the help of lapped traffic but Ferguson would later have his misfortune as he spun in turn one on a restart with 8 laps remaining ending his chances at a win. Madden then had one last restart and held off Bloomquist 2017 March Madness winner Ross Bailes the win.  Bloomquist who has not won on the Southern All Stars since 2010 finished in the second spot, Ross Bailes of Clover, SC., was third, fourth place was Don O’Neil of Martinsville, IN., and fifth Zach Mitchell of Enoree, Sc., fifth in his best run with the series.
