Emory Soars To Emotional Victory At Cherokee

(Gaffney, SC) Holding off challenges from Shaun Harrell in front of a large crowd and the Speed 51 cameras, Robbie Emory took a big step towards the FUEL Racing Series championship with a dominating and victorious performance Saturday night at Cherokee Speedway.

In Renegade Race Fuels Time Trials, Robbie Emory topped the 25 car field for his second pole award of the season with a lap of 16.039 seconds. In Hoosier Racing Tire Heat Race #1, Emory would battle with Doug Sanders early before eventually pulling away for the win over Sanders and Mark Dysart. FK Rod Ends Heat Race #2 featured Shaun Harrell and Chris Blackwell battling head-to-head for the lead Harrell would slide by Blackwell on lap 3 and never look back en route to the win with Blackwell and Anthony Sanders rounding out the Top 3. In City Chevrolet Performance Heat Race #3, an early battle was developing between Jonathan Edwards Jr. and Derrick Ramey but driveshaft troubles would force Ramey to retire. Edwards Jr. would go on to capture the heat win with Adam Yarbrough and Austin Holcombe finishing second and third respectively.

In The Direct Racing Industry Virtual Expo Main Event, Robbie Emory and Shaun Harrell led the field to the green. Emory would seize the lead early while Harrell and Edwards battled for the runner up spot. While the action behind the Top 3 intensified, defending series champion Steve Banal was mounting a charge from the 21st starting position after experiencing mechanical woes in the heat race. Side by side racing continued behind the lead trio as Doug Sanders, Chris Blackwell, Adam Yarbrough, Austin Holcombe, and others jockeyed for track position. In the end, Emory would keep the field at bay one final time to score the victory and $2500 payday. The Milton, Delaware racer was followed by Harrell and Edwards Jr. Blackwell and Yarbrough would round out the Top 5.
