The FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance is set to return to action on Independence Day at Lavonia Speedway for the 5th race of the 2018 season. The 7th Annual Charlie Mize Memorial returns to the 3/8th mile Northeast Georgia oval featuring a $2,000 to win feature for the Chevrolet Performance Late Models. Many of the tracks we watch races at in Western South Carolina and Northern Georgia wouldn’t be there if not for the efforts of Charlie Mize, who was a premier track owner, operator and promoter for over 40 years.

In addition to the over $10,000 up for grabs in purse money, there will be a $100 Hard Charger Award sponsored by Basey’s Site Work, LLC. The winner of the Charlie Mize Memorial will receive a $100 product certificate from Swift Springs. One driver will also receive one case of Hi Performance Motor Oil from VP Racing Lubricants as part of the their contingency program with the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance.

Matthew Nance, of Ronda, NC, picked up his first career FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance victory in the 2017 Charlie Mize Memorial. Nance is the current points leader of the series, holding a 23 point advantage over Ross Bailes of Gastonia, NC. Logan Roberson of Waynesboro, VA is currently third, after recording three consecutive 2nd place finishes. Appomattox, VA’s Corey Almond is in 4th, with Justin Wofford of Jonesville, SC rounding out the top five. Matt Long of Concord, NC won the last FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance race at Virginia Motor Speedway on June 16th.

Grandstand admission is $20, and free for kids 10 and younger. Pit admission is $35. Gates open at 5:30pm with the driver’s meeting scheduled for 7pm.
