Elkins Raceway located in Karens, West Virginia will be returning as a FASTRAK sanctioned race track for the 2018 season. The Chevrolet Performance Late Models at the 3/8th mile track will be eligible to compete for the FASTRAK National Weekly Championship, which pays $10,000 to win and through the top 10. Kyle Lukon of Washington, PA, was the 2017 runner-up in national points and was a regular at Elkins Raceway.
“Being FASTRAK sanctioned helps us draw the Chevrolet Performance Late Models,” said Elkins Raceway manager Jim Skidmore, “We always have plenty of cars and great racing.”
Drivers who become FASTRAK members, also have the opportunity to race for a Divisional Championship, as Elkins is in a division with Tyler County Speedway. Additionally, FASTRAK members now receive $100,000 in participant accident medical insurance coverage with their membership. They are also able to add their crew members to that policy for just $20 per person. FASTRAK membership carries other benefits such as a 20% discount from Simpson Performance Products when making orders from Simpson World in Mooresville, NC.
FASTRAK members who compete in a minimum of ten FASTRAK sanctioned events in 2018 will be eligible to race in the FASTRAK World Challenge at Virginia Motor Speedway which pays $5,000 to win on September 14th. The following night is the $20,000 to win FASTRAK World Championship which is open to all Chevrolet Performance Late Models who are legal under FASTRAK rules.
Elkins Raceway plans to begin the 2018 season with a practice on April 28th, with racing slated to begin on May 4th.
