Travis Pennington of Stapleton, GA began the 2018 season with a $3,000 feature victory at Screven Motor Speedway in the season opener of the FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance on Saturday night. Pennington bested a field of 36 entries in his first race of 2018. On his way to the win, Pennington fended off an early charge by Ross Bailes, of Clover, SC. In closing laps, Ben Faircloth of Sawinsboro, GA, closed in on Pennington as the pair approached the tail end of the field. While negotiating lapped traffic proved difficult, Pennington held off Faircloth for a 0.583 margin of victory. Faircloth, Bailes, Dillon Brown, and Matthew Nance rounded out the top 5.

Ches Chester of Twin City, GA set the fastest overall time in qualifying, clocking a lap at 15.610 seconds. Heat races winners were Travis Pennington, Ross Bailes, Dillon Brown of Gaffney, SC, and Ben Faircloth. Waynesboro, VA’s Logan Roberson won the first B-main, and Josh Henry of Newport, TN won the second.

The FASTRAK Racing Series powered by Chevrolet Performance will be back in action on March 31st, again at Screven Motor Speedway for a $3,000 to win feature. The race will be the first under the 2018 rule book which will be released this week.
